Save with High Performance EAM-Mosca Unitizers

The corrugated industry in the Americas is on an investment surge. Higher production plants, corrugators and conversion lines, although fewer in number, are all using the latest technology to reach demanding production and cost targets. EAM-Mosca is supporting this movement with an impressive lineup of high speed unitizers featuring Mosca’s proprietary Sonixs ultra-sonic sealing technology paired with low cost 9mm wide Polyester strapping to strap more units at lower cost than ever before.

EAM-Mosca’s program is built around two unitizers with electrically driven compression systems. The CTR is built in two or three headed configurations, has a compression capacity of 7,500 lbs and a throughput capability of 220 2×0 units per hour. It has become a mainstay of modern box plants since its introduction at the SuperCorr Show in 2012. See a new video clip of the CTR here. The CTE offers up to four Sonixs strapping heads, 8,000 pounds of compression and throughput of 210 2×0 units per hour. It is especially well suited for sheet feeder plants or sheet lines where 4 heads and a longer bed enable the CTE to strap long units in a single platen hit.

Both models are built around the Mosca Sonixs strapping head. In the market for over 5 years and with thousands of heads in operation, the Sonixs head has established itself as a giant step forward in several performance areas. The Sonixs ultra-sonic sealing system produces consistent seals with polypropylene or polyester strapping, without smoke, with simpler mechanics and a longer life cycle than competitive friction and heat-seals models. Strap feed, tensioning and sealing are driven by DC brushless direct drives, minimizing wear parts and maximizing life expectancy while providing consistent performance. The open construction and sealed bearing mechanism shed dirt and dust and offer service intervals multiples times longer than other systems, providing users improved reliability and low operating costs.

The CTE and CTR offer a variety of options including extra wide and low height configurations, the MoscaTrak Diagnostic package and a variety of platen safety/zero energy state systems.

A collateral benefit of the Sonixs strapping heads and the improved strap feed tracks that accompany them is the ability to operate reliably with lighter, lower cost strapping. While much of the corrugated industry still runs heavier 12mm and 11mm strapping, the predominant strap sold on new systems is 9mm wide. This lighter strap offers consumable savings in the 10-25% range, a significant sum in today’s high production marketplace. With the benefit of longer coils reducing coil changes and the high efficiency of systems designed to run with the lighter straps, new unitizers have become a highly productive investment for many EAM-Mosca customers.

EAM-Mosca systems provide higher reliability, lower maintenance costs, and lower consumable costs; reason enough for a plant to consider a new EAM-Mosca unitizing system.
