How do Mosca stainless-steel strapping machines perform in harsh conditions?
The ROMP-6R-VA-Sonixs and ROMS-6-VA-Sonixs utilize V4A stainless-steel and aluminum materials for corrosion resistance, and feature a sealed splash-proof control cabinet and operation panel where all cables are wired in sealed terminal boxes. The ROMP-6R-VA-Sonixs moves product on a rugged roller conveyor with a ridged v-belt drive that eliminates belt tracking issues and simplifies belt tensioning requirements, while having oversized casters make rolling on plant floors and drain openings easy. As an option, the ROMP-6R-VA’s conveying direction can be reversed, providing maximum flexibility in operations that have lines with both right and left-handed equipment layouts. With its side seal design, the ROMS-6-VA-Sonixs is able to clear the sealing head from falling debris and water which can affect strapper performance, making it a great choice for seafood industries where dripping water can often be a concern.

What are IP56 standards?
The IP56 rating which all Mosca stainless-steel strapping machines are built to, is the highest standard for stainless strapping machines currently on the market; ensuring improved reliability, performance, and the greatest protection against harsh environments.

The ingress protection rating (IP) classifies the degree of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, accidental contact, and water in electrical enclosures. This high level of protection means:
• Solid Protection: Dust is not entirely prevented, but it must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the satisfactory operation of the equipment; complete protection against contact.
• Liquid Protection: Seawater or water projected from jets shall not enter the machine in any harmful quantity. Providing protection from splashing water, hose driven water and corrosion.

Why is Mosca’s Sonixs, ultrasonic sealing technology needed in harsh packaging environments?
Mosca’s proprietary Sonixs ultrasonic sealer features a special coating to protect the sonotrode from corrosion in damp environments. This innovative sealer is built on brushless DC motor technology – a proprietary Mosca innovation. Its simplified mechanics are proven to reduce noise, wear, lubrication and maintenance requirements. Moving elements are designed with sealed bearings in an open lever style construction eliminating sensitivity to dust and dirt, ensuring minimum cleaning.

How can strapping costs be reduced?
One of EAM-Mosca’s successes in the protein industry has been helping customers reduce the cost of strapping by reducing the number of straps per box and/or reducing the size and cost of the strapping product. The precision of a Mosca strapping system, from dispenser through to the sealer and feed tracks enables Mosca equipment to run with high reliably while utilizing inexpensive, lighter weight strapping products.

Multiple customers have successfully downsized strap from relatively expensive 9mm PP strap to 6 mm or even 5 mm products, with no loss of efficiency or package integrity. Lighter straps not only reduce cost, but provide a more sustainable package offering as well.
