Mosca’s New Generation 6 Strapping Equipment Redefining Standards
EAM-Mosca announces the release of its newest generation of strapping equipment which takes system performance to previously unattainable levels.
The new product line from Mosca is built around the “Standard-6 Strap Path” technology. All models have a common premise which is to take plastic strap from a coil, apply it to a package, and securely seal it with Mosca’s unique Sonixs ultra-sonic sealing system or conventional heat seal. Sounds simple enough but there are major differences in manufacturing standards among strapping manufacturers, and as a result, performance standards.
In the case of Mosca systems, the precision engineered, moving elements are powered by DC direct drive motors, and bearings are sealed to minimize the impact of dust and dirt on machine operation. The track snaps open without tools for quick and easy cleaning, feed track is metal reinforced for long life and the entire assembly is built in a precision fixture for extreme consistency, and unexcelled job performance.
Entry Level Systems
Entry-level models, the ROMP-6 Series, include foot-switch activated walk-up models and fully automatic versions with optional belt or roller conveyor. They offer a compact cabinet; and leading and trailing edge strap placement capability. Available options meet the needs of a variety of applications of customers with relatively uniform product runs, and package dimensions up to 1000 mm wide and 800 mm high.
The TR-6 is Mosca’s mid-market entry. It offers an extremely rugged cabinet design, with a broader range of strap pattern options including the ability to receive strapping instructions from an external data source or by detecting package characteristics; pneumatic or electric press and backstops, and the ability to run multiple machines in tandem for high-output or failsafe backup operation. In addition, the TR-6 table is adjustable to a low height of 27.6 inches in its standard configuration, accommodating a very broad range of transport heights.
Mosca’s high-end model is the TR6-Pro which continues the Company’s reputation as the Strapping Industry’s technology leader. The Pro has all the capability of the basic TR-6 and more. It utilizes a B&R PLC/HMI controller that enables strap pattern possibilities to meet the most complex requirements. Signal exchange capability allows package management from system entry through exit. The system can accept strapping “recipes”, either operator selected or externally delivered, to control not only strap number and position but also other parameters such as hold-down pressure and strap tension to meet the most exacting requirements. Strapping instructions and monitoring can be performed externally via hard wired systems or wireless networks to suit customer requirements.
All of these models run polypropylene strapping of from 5mm to 12mm in width, in a variety of strengths to meet application requirements. In addition, Sonixs models are able to run polyester strapping, offering unique possibilities for performance enhancement and cost control.
At the entry end, Mosca’s Generation 6 equipment provides simple solutions to provide extreme operating reliability at the lowest cost. At the high end, it offers the capability to manage instructions and provide data that meets the needs of the most sophisticated users. The common foundation is the Standard-6 Strap Path which assures that, whatever level of sophistication is needed, users can be confident that their Mosca equipment will put the straps on their packages as intended, cycle after cycle.
