New Stainless Steel Bander at Pacific Marine Expo
EAM-Mosca Corporation will introduce the ROMS6-VA-Sonixs stainless steel side seal strapping machine, designed for superior performance in the cold/wet environments typically found in seafood and animal protein applications, at the Pacific Marine Expo in Booth 542. The Expo runs November 16th – 18th in Seattle, WA.
The new MS6-VA-Sonixs is built primarily from high grade stainless steel, with very low carbon content to resist corrosion from salt spray environments. Other key components are made from treated aluminum and brass, as well as plastics.
The machine is classified as IP56 (The International Ingress Protection or International Protection ratings which are defined to the international standard of EN 60529 (British BS EN 60529:1992, European IEC 60509:1989). These standards are used to define the levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies such as dirt and water. In short, the ROMS6-VA-Sonixs meets a high performance and reliability standard that most other competitive machines do not.
Beyond high-corrosion resistance, the machine has been configured for superior performance in the challenging processing environments associated with the seafood and animal protein markets. The strap-feed wheel is knurled to assure positive engagement with strapping that is typically stiffer and more prone to slip than normal, due to the operating environment. The strap cutting knife is chrome plated for a longer use life. The sonotrode, ultra-sonic welding device is specially coated to prevent any external impacts on strap seal consistency.
All of the aforementioned special components are assembled into the highly regarded Mosca Standard 6 Strapway. The core components of the Strapway feature Mosca’s proprietary Sonixs ultra-sonic sealing head and a closed strap feed track, in a precise assembly. This highly engineered system assures close control of strap feeding and tensioning, to achieve best in class cycle efficiency.
The Sonixs ultra-sonic seal is a proven, sealing system with a reputation established through performance and reliability. It has no warm-up requirement and generates no smoke or emissions. It also assesses sealing conditions and adjusts parameters to optimize seal integrity, on each strap cycle.
The MS6-VA-Sonixs side sealer is offered in track openings of 650mm (25.6”) W x 600mm (23.6”) H. The machine can be built into a third party conveyor line or can include a stainless steel constructed power conveyor from Mosca to control package movement through the strapping zone. It can be operator cycled or integrated into a fully automatic process.
The system can operate with strapping ranging from 5mm to 12mm wide. Due to the use of ultra-sonic sealing either Polypropylene of PET strapping can be utilized. The ability of the Mosca Standard 6 Strapway to run with equal reliability within the full strap range, enables users to size their strap choice to package demands rather than by compensating for machine limitations, providing a significant cost reduction opportunity.
