New TR-6 Strapping System Offers Advances in Mechanics & Controls

Hazle Township, PA – Mosca’s new TR-6 line of automatic strapping systems offer advances in mechanical and control technology that are enhancing Mosca’s reputation as a leading supplier of reliable strapping solutions, and defining new performance standards.

The TR-6 strapping systems (banders) come standard with variable speed belt conveyor, or optional roller conveyor. Arch sizes range from 500mm (19.6”) to 800mm (31.5”) wide and 600mm (23.6) to 800mm (31.5”) high. Seal position may be centered in the arch or offset depending on model and application requirements. It has a throughput capability of up to 45 units per minute depending on arch and bundle or carton characteristics.

The TR-6 is built on Mosca’s modular Standard 6 platform for the highest level of mechanical strap path integrity and cycle consistency. The strap path is assembled into a precision fixture and the cabinet and supporting structure are built around it, preserving its precision as a top priority of the assembly process.

All models operate with the Standard 6 sealer. It includes Mosca’s advanced DC brushless drives which simplify mechanics and extend service intervals. There are two sealing options: Mosca’s proprietary Sonixs ultra-sonic sealing system is smoke free and powered only on demand, reducing energy consumption. A highly efficient thermostatically controlled heat seal system is also available. Finally, the sealer features an open construction and sealed bearing design that sheds dust and dirt and further reduces cleaning and servicing needs.

The machines include a quick change strap dispenser, automatic coil threading and easy access strap path from dispenser to sealer which disassembles without tools for easy cleaning and servicing.

The TR-6 model comes with a membrane type pushbutton operator panel with leading/trailing edge strap placement. The TR-6 Pro user interface is an intuitive color coded touch screen. Key parameters are accessible via the interface, with multiple security levels to help manage access. TR-6 Pro includes a broad array of strap placement and cycle control options to meet virtually any application requirement.

Strap position is determined by the distance a package travels rather than by timer. This enables strap positions to be set using the visual display at the monitor, with no trial and error.
TR-6 brings includes advances in other aspects of integration and cycle management including:

  • Dry contacts for up/downstream integration into automated production lines
  • Multiple signal exchange possibilities to manage package flow between the strapping system and up/downstream equipment
  • Communication between the bander and external devices to register packages with predefined parameters including strap position, tension level and accessory position for fastest cycle speed.
  • Remote access to the bander’s program, without special cabling and software.
  • Options include pneumatic and electric press and backstops, multiple table lengths to fit application requirements, automatic tension control based on package height, and various integration options noted above.
