Company founder Gerd Mosca passed away
Mosca GmbH mourns the loss of its company founder Gerd Mosca, who passed away on August 30, 2025 at the age of 87. With his entrepreneurial spirit, innovative strength and his special way of trusting and motivating people, he laid the foundation for the success of today's Mosca Group with over 1,400 employees worldwide.
For the trained machine fitter, freedom was inextricably linked to the motorcycle seat. With his friend, work colleague and later business partner Willi Lamberts, he undertook extensive tours across Europe and as far as Africa. This sense of adventure and departure also shaped his entrepreneurial path.
Together with Lamberts, he founded Mosca & Lamberts GmbH in 1966. What began with the development of the first tying machine in a laundry, quickly developed into an innovative mechanical engineering company. The early accidental death of Willi Lamberts, just three years after the company was founded, was a heavy blow of fate. But Gerd Mosca continued to run the company alone - with courage, foresight and trust in his employees and partners. Under his leadership, Mosca developed from a specialist in tying machines to a global supplier of strapping machines and straps.
Gerd Mosca's conviction that cohesion and innovation must go hand in hand still characterizes the corporate culture today. Subsidiaries in the USA and Canada expanded the company's sphere of influence early on, and its presence at international trade fairs strengthened its global orientation. The expansion of belt production and the introduction of new machine types testify to his ability to pick up on trends and develop them further.
In the 1990s, the company suffered further strokes of fate. A serious traffic accident with permanent health impairments meant that the handover to the next generation was initiated earlier than planned. His son Timo Mosca took over responsibility for the management of the company at an early stage and played a key role in shaping its development.
Today, Timo Mosca heads the group of companies together with Simone Mosca and Alfred Kugler. Christopher Mosca , the third generation, joined the company this year.
Nevertheless, it was a conscious and logical step for Gerd Mosca to withdraw completely from the operational business - a step that many founders find difficult. However, he enjoyed watching the company's development from afar and was proud of how Mosca evolved. At the same time, he remained closely involved with the company - and also enjoyed attending the alumni get-together.
With a pioneering spirit, the courage to embrace change and a deep trust in people, Gerd Mosca created a strong foundation on which Mosca GmbH is still built today. This legacy will continue to shape the company in the future.
