MoscaTrak Enhances EAM-Mosca Unitizer Performance

Hazle Township, PA –  In an era where there is more data available than ever before, the challenge is to distill big data down to the information needed to drive action in a clear, easily accessible manner. MoscaTrak, the optional diagnostic and data collection system available for EAM-Mosca’s CTE, CTR and CTX Compression Unitizers, is a new tool designed to meet this challenge in a simple, straightforward manner.

On systems equipped with MoscaTrak, real time data is updated with every cycle. Cycle speeds, success rates, cycle counts and fault histories are uploaded and readily accessible. Information is maintained for each strapping head, as well as the compression platen and conveyor interface. Strapping head information is linked to each head, even if platen position changes over time. Fault data includes time and nature of the fault, along with troubleshooting suggestions. Operating parameters are included alongside fault history for easy access. External switch and sensor status for the overall machine, individual strapping heads and conveyor interface are viewable for convenient troubleshooting.

According to Dan Covert, EAM-Mosca project engineer, ‘Moscatrak paid for itself recently at an installation where corrugated debris had prevented the turn-table from reaching ‘home’ position which affected operation and eventually halted production. Although plant personnel were still new to the unitizer operation, they were able to minimize downtime by navigating the touch screen files to find and correct the problem quickly, saving time and resources.’

The system includes four levels of access via password so different parameters can be controlled by only qualified personnel – for example, an operator would have less access than plant engineering.  MoscaTrak can automatically notify the selected individuals by email as issues arise, on a preprogrammed schedule, or for predictive maintenance purposes.

MoscaTrak is aimed squarely at providing the information box plants need to keep running without unnecessary frills and at an affordable price.  According to Ralph E. Morini, company president, ‘We think MoscaTrack achieves our objectives of facilitating corrective action to maximize uptime and offers yet another reason to consider one of EAM-Mosca’s high performing systems when it’s time to upgrade.’
